LONG WINS COUNTY SPRING MEETING
Tidworth's
Jayne Long won the Scratch cup in the Spring meeting at Cumberwell with
a gross 78, one shot ahead of Wrag Barn's Gill Loughrey, her county
foursomes knockout partner. The handicap winner Muriel Loosemore of
Wrag Barn with a nett 69. FULL

SQUAD ANNOUNCED
County Captain, Karen Gosling has named the squad to represent
Wiltshire during County Week at Bristol and Clifton 22-25 June.
They are: Emma Breen - Marlborough, Nina Davies - Marlborough, Kyra
Horlock - Hamptworth, Gill Loughrey - Woodbridge Park & Wrag Barn,
Charlotte Luca- Highpost, Sophie Newman - Ogbourne Downs, Jo Shorrocks
- Hamptworth, Sue Sutton - Ogbourne Downs, Hannah Turland - Tidworth
and Sarah Watts - Tidworth

2009
Alison Grandison from Chippenham and Lynn Willgress from The Manor House
were the winners of the Winter Knock-out finals played at North Wilts
on 2 May. In two hard fought finals, Ali beat County Captain, Karen Gosling
2 & 1 in the Scratch and Lynn beat High Post's Di Gritt on the 22nd
hole in the handicap final. Both events are very kindly sponsored by Chartex.

APRIL
2009 HANNAH
WINS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Fourteen-year-old Hannah Turland from Tidworth won the County Championships
for the second year running after a thrilling final against 13-year
old Kyra Horlock from Hamptworth. Three birdies from Kyra (and two from
Hannah) over the last 3 holes at High Post squared the match which was
finally won by Hannah with a great up and down from under the trees
to make a birdie 4 on the second extra hole! Awesome play from both

2009
For the second
year running, a volunteer from Wiltshire has won a national award from
the England Golf Partnership. Di Gritt receiving the award for Services
to County Development.

from Marlborough has taken over as Wiltshire's new County Captain for the
next two years. Her Vice-Captain is Anne Martin from North Wilts (far left
with Karen). Our new County President is Phoebe Lumley (right), also from

Viv Monument
& Linda Bowden from Bowood won the final of the Douglas Bader Golf
For Women competition, in Desert Spring, Spain. As well as the prizes they
get a free invite back to the final again next year.
Wendy Stewart & her husband Jamie, won the World Final of the
Villa Sol World Challenge, representing England & competing again 30
other countries.
It just shows, it's worth having a go at all these qualifying competitions!! |

Marlborough
has won the league's first division finishing 3 points clear of runners-up,
Chippenham. Ogbourne Downs won the second division, 9.5 points ahead of
Salisbury & South Wilts in 2nd place. The League will be in five divisions
next year with all matches played off scratch and teams playing home and
away.

Wiltshire's
girls have been making ther mark on the national scene...Tidworth's Hannah
Turland has been selected for the English Under 18 squad for 2009.
Hannah will also play in the annual England Girls match against the boys
at Woodhall Spa on 26 October.
Wrag Barn's
Katie Warren and Hamptworth's Kyra Horlock have been selected
to join the England South West Select Squad for 2009.

Kingsdowns
Portia Abbott has become the third English player to win on the US womens
college circuit since the start of the autumn season. Portia, who is a
fourth-year student at Jacksonville State University, claimed the first
win of her college career when she finished three shots ahead of her closest
challenger in the Fred Marx Invitational hosted by the University of Louisiana-Monroe.She
shot 71, 74, 73 to finish on two-over par.

Tidworth
has won the Scratch Cup for the fourth year running beating Marlborough
at Bowood on 20 September. The County Foursomes Knockout was won by Bridget
Cartwright & Lynn Chivers of Upavon (left) who beat Gillian Wood &
Melanie Derham of West Wilts.

Tidworth's
Hannah Turland has done the double adding the Wiltshire Girls Championships
to her County Championship win earlier this year. Under 18 Champion was
Nancy Pallas and Under 13 Champion was Kyra Horlock, both from Hamptworth.
