WINS UNDER 16'S FALDO SERIES QUALIFIER County Champion, Kyra Horlock, has won through to the Grand Final of the 2010 Faldo Series. Kyra won the under 16's group at the two-day strokeplay qualifying competition last week at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club in Sussex, with her scores of 79 and 78. She came third overall. She will go on to play in the final to be held at the Lough Erne golf resort in Co. Fermanagh, Ireland, this coming September. Kyra also finished 2nd in the FRilford Heath Scratch Salver after rounds of 77 and 68 left her two over par and two off the lead in the 36 hole event. TRIPLE SUCCESS FOR THE LOUGHREY FAMILY
Gill Loughrey from Wrag Barn, winner of the Sybil Parsons Plate at the 2010 WLCGA County Championships, has two more reasons to celebrate this month. Elder son, Ben, who plays off handicap of +2, has taken the Wiltshire Mens' County Championship title after a fantastic match in the final at Cumberwell Park against Ben Stow of Rushmore. The match went to 5 extra holes before a birdie putt settled the result. Not to be left out, the Loughrey's younger son, Josh, who also plays off +2, won the Colts Championship with a 1 under par score after two rounds on the first day. Both boys are members at Wrag Barn and their success at the WCGU County Championships came hot on the heels of great performances at the Irish Open Amateur Championships, where Ben took overall third place and, with brother Josh, qualified for the Brabazon Trophy. Gill and husband, Barry, are over the moon at the boys' success. "We are so proud of them!", she says.
