An Update from our Handicap Adviser
It will also show you any AWAY scores that need to be entered onto your system. All AWAY scores may not always get sent automatically to your home club. It is the player’s responsibility to make sure all scores (good & bad) are returned to the home club. You also need to bring back your card if there is any possibility of stableford adjustments in a stroke play competition. All handicap secretaries should have access to the CDH & occasionally it’s worth checking that your local handicap list matches that on the CDH. Those players with inactive handicaps - now is the time to put in 3 cards to become active again. Any qualifier will count a supplementary score, 9 hole stableford, 18 hole stroke play or stableford. Reminder of changes this year:- Any player, irrespective of handicap or how many cards were submitted in the previous year, may complete a supplementary card. Restriction on number of 9 hole qualifying competitions has been removed (was 10), but remember these should not be run to the detriment of 18 hole competitions. They are an addition to them, not a replacement. Clubs may now have more than one designated 9 hole SSS per measured course. Players with an inactive handicap are not to be included in the CSS calculations. Your handicapping software should have all the changes included in the 2011 version. Make sure your software is up to date. Change in Appendix O – mixed stableford events – additional strokes received due to difference in SSS – read at your leisure! The new edition of the CONGU UHS for 2012 to 2015 is due at the end of 2011. Details will be available nearer the time. Meanwhile, if you any queries or just want to talk something over, please contact me on fishbytes@lineone.net or 01249 444765. Anne Fisher
