(A report from Jacqui Stephens, County Junior Organiser)

"The Wiltshire Girls had a very successful Inter Counties Championship held at Honiton on 14^th – 16^th August. Six Counties from the South West took part – Gloucestershire, Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Wiltshire. 

Our team consisted of Kyra Horlock (Cumberwell), Katie Warren (Wrag Barn), Alex Patton (Manor House and Chippenham), Sarah Gee (West Wilts), Charlotte Lucas (Highpost), Hannah Stradling (Upavon), Alex Feltham (Chippenham and Kingsdown) and Jane Askey (North Wilts). 

Despite rain on the first two days the sun came out on the final day. Honiton was an interesting course, quite short but with very difficult greens and some interesting short par 4 holes. 

The only match we lost was against Gloucestershire, losing 2 games to 4. We went on to beat Dorset, Devon and Somerset and drew with Cornwall. Gloucestershire ended up winning the Championship, beating us by half a point. Alex Feltham, on her Inter County debut was unbeaten, winning 3 and halving one game, and to the dismay of her opponents sinking several long putts!! 

All the hard work put in by John Jacobs (our coach), Anne Ferguson & Trudy Feltham (Squad Managers) and, not least, the girls themselves has paid off. 

It was a great championships, girls, well done - and let’s win it next year at Launceston in Cornwall !!
