Sarah Gee from West Wilts is the new County Champion, narrowly beating last year's Champion, Kyra Horlock, by one hole. It was a very close and exciting match with both players taking their turn at nudging ahead. In the end, it all came down to the last putt on the 18th green. Sarah was naturally delighted to win and her Mum & Dad, who came to watch her play on Sunday, were estastic.
Sarah had another tight match in the semi-final against Sue Sutton from Ogbourne - that match went to the 19th hole. Kyra's opponent in the other semi-final was Roxanne Roberts from Wrag Barn.
In the 2nd flight, Alex Patton from Manor House & Chippenham won the Gillian Wood Trophy, beating Carol Main from Chippenham in the final.
The trophy winners included Kyra who took three trophies - the Taunton Bowl as Championship Runner Up, the Hoare Salver for the best scratch score in the qualifying rounds and the Deacon Cup for the best scratch score for 21 and under. Quite a haul! Sue Sutton won the Barber Dish for the best handicap in the qualifying rounds with a nett 149 and also the Sybil Parsons Plate for the best scratch score for 40 and over.
