Hannah heads for Abu Dhabi

Wiltshire County Champion, Hannah Turland, is amongst an elite group of juniors heading for Abu Dhabi in November for the final of the Junior Golf Championship, sponsored by the Daily Telegraph. The 21 finalists, 12 boys and 9 girls, will compete over three days in the 54-hole final of this national competition which attracts over 40,000 entries.

15-year-old Hannah, who plays at Tidworth Garrison & High Post Golf Clubs with a handicap of +2, can count 2009 as a memorable year. She was just one shot short of winning the Ladies' British Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Royal Aberdeen in August - a performance which brought her to number two in the English Girls' Order of Merit. She is also 14th in the overall Women's Order of Merit ranking.

As well as claiming the County Champion's title for the second year running, her other achievements this year include her major contribution towards England's win at the Girls Home Internationals at Fairhaven in August, where Hannah was unbeaten in all of her matches. She was runner-up in her age group in the English Girls' championships, in July.

Her passport to Abu Dhabi came with a two under par gross score at the High Post Junior Open which secured her place in the best 7 scores nationwide.
