For the second year running, a volunteer from Wiltshire has won a national award from the England Golf Partnership. Di Gritt, a well-known figure throughout Wiltshire and the South West, has been recognised for the immense amount of work she has put in over the past decade, receiving the award for Services to County Development. Di has been involved in all aspects of ladies' and girls' golf in Wiltshire for many years. She has played for the County 1st team and was County Captain in 2003-04. She was County Junior Organiser from 2005 to 2007 during which time she set up a girls' development programme and ensured that virtually every club in the County has a girls' junior organiser. She has represented the County on the EWGA South West Regional committee and was England Team Manager for the Home Internationals in 2006. She also played an important part in the formation of the Wiltshire County Golf Partnership which she has chaired for the past two years. Di and her husband, Colin, have recently joined High Post Golf Club after many years at Tidworth Garrison. England Golf is a partnership between the English Golf Union, the English Women's Golf Association and the PGA with the support of the Golf Foundation and Sport England. In 2008,
the inaugural year for the Partnership's Volunteer Awards, June Poffley
of North Wilts Golf Club received the Club Volunteer Award. - ends
