Wiltshire Girls ended the playing season with a 'Wear It Pink' adult and junior bowmaker, at Marlborough GC during October Half Term. With pink prizes for all, the overall winners were Ogbourne's Sarah Carvell, Charlotte Lucas from Hamptworth and Kingsdown's Anya Thethy.

Past County President & Captain presented the awarde for the Most Improved Girl of 2007 to Kyra Horlock from Hamptwrth. Runner-up was Sam Masters from Broome Manor.

Upavon's Bridget Cartwright & Lynn Chivers completed a foursomes double by winning the County Autumn Foursomes at Upavon and beating North Wilts duo, Joan Toogood and Irene Tomkinson at Marlborough to win the County Foursomes Knockout. AUTUMN 4SOMES....KNOCKOUT   

AUGUST 2007
Marlborough's Emma Breen has retained the Wiltshire Girls Championship played at Kingsdown GC on 28th August. Emma had two birdies in her last three holes to finish on three over par 76, just one stroke ahead of Hamptworth's Kyra Horlock and English Under 13 Champion, Hannah Turland. Kyra beat Hannah on the back nine to take the Under 13 Wiltshire title. Kingsdown's Ellen Farrow took the Under 15 title with a gross 82.

AUGUST 2007
Wiltshire Girls had great wins against both Glamorgan and Monmouth in the Inter County Girls Championships played at Forest Hills on 21st & 22nd August. They only lost to overall winners, Gloucester. The Wiltshire team was Emma Breen, Sophie Newman, Sarah Carvell, Emma May, Kyra Horlock & Lorna White.

Tidworth's Hannah Turland is the new England Under 13 Champion. She won the title at Brickendon Grange in Herts on 2nd August, when she came from 2 strokes behind to birdie 4 of the last 5 holes and take the title by three shots. FULL STORY

Jo Shorrocks from Hamptworth is the 2007 South West Champion! Jo beat Gloucester's Sian James on the 18th hole at Burnham & Berrow on 19th July to take the trophy. The first Wiltshire winner in memory!
On her way to the final, Jo had knocked out England player, Jo Hodge, Devon's Julia Norman as well as Wiltshire's own Claire Hobbs. FULL RESULTS

Kyra Horlock from Hamptworth is off to the USA to represent England in the US Kids World Championships. Kyra won her age group event in the Wee Wonders finals at St Andrews last year and was featured on TV when she outputted Tiger Woods in a Texas Scramble at Wentworth!

In a tightly fought match against Hampshire Girls on a rainswept High Post, Wiltshire just lost although there were good wins for Emma Breen (Marlborough), Emma May (Kingsdown) and Catherine Ludlam (High Post), playing in her first County match.

13-year old Hannah Turland from Tidworth Garrison has been selected as a reserve for the England Team to play in the European Young Masters at Golf de Bondues, France, from July 26-28.

Despite good wins by Hamptworth 11-year olds, Kyra Horlock and rookie, Charlotte Lucas, Wiltshire lost their first girls match of the season against Somerset at Saltford 4-2.

Wiltshire 2nd team got off to a good start to the season winning their first match away against Monmouthshire. The team had three rookies including Kingsdown junior, Ellena Farrow who pulled off a resounding 7/6 win. A strong performance in the singles by Gloucester meant they lost their second match. Although ending up with the wooden spoon at County Week, the Wilts team scored some great wins. 12-year old Hannah Turland beat ex-Curtis Cup star Vicki Thomas and Ogbourne junior Sophie Newman came up trumps against Gloucester no. l player Jo Hodge. FULL STORY

CLAIRE HOBBS from Cumberwell Park shot a gross 82 to win the Scratch Cup in the County Spring Meeting held at Chippenham on 8th May. Chippenham players dominated the other prizes with Jacqui Stephens winning the Handicap Cup (net 71), Jean Myles winning the bronze scratch award (gross 96) and Jane Sharpe the bronze handicap cup (net 73). Wiltshire drew 4-4 in their foursomes match against Dorset at North Wilts on 12 April. But Dorset had past Wiltshire Captain, Sue Dix to thank for the final point of the match. Sue stood in at the last moment when Dorset went a player down! FULL RESULTS

Kyra Horlock from Hamptworth, Katie Warren from Wrag Barn and Alex Feltham from Kingsdown were all winners in the County Girls stableford competition held at Wrag Barn on 10th April. Kyra won the Silver division prize with 35 points, Katie took Bronze honours with 39 points and Alex won the 9 hole event for girls without handicaps.

Wilthire have made a winning start to the season beating the High Post men 10-5 in their first match of the season at High Post on Saturday 7th April. The team, captained by a delighted Bev Dolman (left) won the foursomes 4-1 and the singles 6-4.

Wiltshire has been chosen as one of three counties to pilot a new England/County golf coaching programme for girls in 2006 /2007. The joint venture means an investment of some £5000 in girls in the county that show the potential to be top county and national golfers of the future.

Thirteen girls from across the county have been selected for the new England County Birdies squad, for girls aged around 10 to 13, and for the more advanced 'Eagles' squad for older girls up to around 18. Full Details

Marlborough's Emma Breen has won the Most Improved Girl Golfer of 2006 award. Emma, who ha reduced her handicap to 6, won the Wiltshire Girls County Championship and was Wiltshire's top qualifier in the English Girls. Emma is also the new Wiltshire Girls Captain for 2007.
