CLAIRE WAITE NAMED WILTSHIRE 1ST TEAM COACH |

Golf
professional, Claire Waite, the former English & British Amateur Champion
and Curtis Cup player whose golfing home as an amateur was Ogbourne Downs,
has been appointed Wiltshire's 1st team squad coach for 2007. Claire was leading amateur at the Britsh open in 1983 and the following year won both the English & British Amateur Championships- and a Curtis Cup place. With several successes in the United States she was named Avia Golfer of the Year for 1984 and she was voted Worlds Best Amateur by Golf Digest Magazine. Claire turned Professional in 1985 and from 1986-1992 played on the Womens European Tour achieving several top 10 finishes. Since 1992 she has been Head Professional at Mentmore Golf & Country Club, Buckinghamshire County Coach, Danish National Coach and continues to write articles for Golf World & Women in Golf Magazines. As Wiltshire coachm Claire will be meeting the 1st team squad on 3rd and llth March, when she will have an opportunity toanalyse their playing game. "Claire will also be accompanying us on a two day training session to Llanwern GC. Monmouthshire, where this year's County week is to be held on Monday 14th, Tuesday l5th and Wednesday l6th May," said County Captain, Bev Dolman. "As well as assisting individuals with playing problems it is hoped that Claire will be able to draw on her wealth of match play experience to teach the squad the mental approach to playing under pressure and how to play different types of shots according to playing conditions and situations." John Jacobs is continuing to work with Wiltshire's top golfing girls in his new role coaching the England County Birdie and Eagle groups.
